People seek to experience God in many ways. One amazing way is through music. There’s a way music affects our spirits, moods, and even bodies. As such, music can be a great means to give us a special spiritual encounter with God. And the Overflowing EP allows such an experience.
This 6-track musical project by Nsay ki la focuses on praise, worship, and thanksgiving. It features 3 talented artists: Vernsai Sany, Yaa-ki, and MCV.
The main producer of the work is Marc Eff of Kovapot, together with Dijay Kay and Nsay ki la doing some of the production work. All these make the Overflowing EP a unique blend of musical talent and spiritual expression.
Focus on Praise, Worship, and Thanksgiving:
The Overflowing EP is focused on praising, worshiping, and giving thanks to the Almighty. It is an uplifting project that inspires listeners to reflect on their spiritual journey and connect with the Divine. The tracks are crafted in such a way that they evoke a deep sense of gratitude and reverence for the Creator.
This moves us away from the prayers of petition and intercession to which we are more accustomed. Of course, God himself has said this in his word ( Matthew 7:7).
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you
However, our prayer must not consist in only asking. We also should focus on who God is, and what he has done for us, and then give him praise and thanks.
In this way, the Overflowing EP comes in handy. The songs move attention away from us to God. They invite us to focus on him, to let ourselves be filled with him. And it allows us to use words from his word (The Holy Bible), to praise him.
A Blend of Different Musical Styles:
The Overflowing EP features diverse musical styles that are expertly blended to create a unique sound. As the English poet, William Cowper said,
“Variety’s the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor”.
From slow and mellow tracks like tracks 3, 4, and 5, to upbeat and energetic ones, the project offers a rich musical experience that appeals to listeners of all ages and tastes.
Whether you prefer gospel, worship, or contemporary Christian music, the Overflowing EP has something for you. It uses diverse genres such as Afrobeats, Slow Makossa, Cinematic Music, and Folk Music from Cameroon. After bringing together four artists and 3 producers, you must know what variety to expect in the delivery.
The Power from the Word:
One thing that makes the Overflowing EP spiritually powerful is the lyrics. A large part of the EP is drawn from the Scriptures. And this is why listening to it brings a refreshing spiritual experience, as it immerses one in God’s word.
For example, the entire track 3, WE PRAISE YOU, is drawn from the book of the Apocalypse. It is the words that John heard in his vision, being used to worship God in the heavenly realm (Cfr. Revelations 4:11a; 5:12, 13b).
Another example is track 5, WU DZE E RANEN. Interestingly, this whole track is only half a verse from the same book of the Apocalypse (Cfr. Revelations 4:4b). These words have power. In John’s vision, they came from the center of God’s throne: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God the Almighty, who was, who is, and is to come”.
Even the other songs have connections and allusions to the Psalms and Canticles from the Bible. This EP is perhaps the kind of spiritual experience that you have been looking for through music.
Conclusion:
The Overflowing EP is a must-listen for anyone seeking a spiritual experience through music. It is a powerful testament to the power of collaboration, the beauty of diverse musical styles, and the importance of praising, worshiping, and giving thanks to the Almighty, especially by using his word.
